two hours and not a single rec/comment on this fine post? Shame on you, oppo. That thing is STRANGE, I dig it. Especially the roofline

Oppo must be busy.
It's fairly restrained compared to some of the other wild concepts of 1954; relative little chrome acreage cladding and it doesn't have a bubble tops.
The roofline makes it look really sleek and low slung from the side, but I couldn't find a very large picture of the side profile. I like the large front fender wells and the short front overhang because it makes it look like its moving while standing still.
The Cutlass had an interesting life. A two seater concept that became a fairly innovative unibody compact that evolved into a full frame midsize and then devolved into rebadged fwd Chevrolet.

Yeah, tracing back the history of long-lived american car models is always interesting. Whenever I check out the wiki page of something like a grand prix, I always find a mix of "damn, didn't know these were cool at one point?!" And "LOL that's fugly"
You're totally right about the side profile, the asymmetrical wheel arches and the roofline all come together very well, like a family of variations of the same shape. It's such a cohesive piece of design.

Gorgeous. The huge diameter skinny ringed steering wheels need to make a comeback. They have such a cool feeling when driving.
